Hello! My name is Hannah (a.k.a. HJS Yoga!) and I'm a yoga and meditation teacher from Wigan.
I'm not someone who has always been 'into' yoga. I practiced on-and-off for years, but found a real love during lockdown of 2020. Since then, it has been full-throttle in pursuing my learning and teaching development 🚀
I wouldn't say I am the most 'bendy' person! And if I was to guide you in your practice, there are postures that I will be able to instruct but certainly won't be able to achieve myself! But that's the beauty of yoga. Everyone is different and it's all about what you and your body feel on a particular day.
Some random bits and bobs about me... I've recently started powerlifting (which I'm very much enjoying!), love hiking (whenever I can, and I'm certainly not very fast 🤣), and I desire to make my yoga classes as inclusive and welcoming as possible 💖
Any questions, always feel free to drop me a message.

Want to practice yoga at YOUR convenience?
Where to find Billinge Public Hall
Full address: 216 Main Street, Billinge, Wigan, WN5 7PE.
Billinge Public Hall is in the centre of the village. It's a little bit set back from the road, with parking at the front.
Just across from The Billinge Arms, next to the big row of shops, and across the bend from the petrol station.
If you're using the sat nav or searching on Google, it's known as 'Billinge Chapel End Parish Council'.
I haven't tried yoga before. Can I attend your sessions?
Yes, of course! Find a class on my schedule that is for 'Beginners' or 'All levels'. Modifications always offered and encouraged. Come and give it a go!
How can yoga help me?
Yoga can give so much (if you let it in!) Aside from the potential for physical benefits (stronger muscles and joints, increased flexibility and mobility, greater stability and balance...), yoga can provide greater peace-of-mind, relaxation, calm, mindfulness, and general contentment - not just on the mat! The physical side of yoga (asana) is only one of many aspects.
Do I have to be flexible to practice yoga?
Short answer: No! On a physical level, flexibility comes with time and practice, and every body is different. There may be some postures and movements that never come. But that's part of the beauty of it: Understanding and (potentially) challenging your body, and finding contentment and acceptance. But, yoga is much more than the physical - so as long as you're willing to learn and find joy in your practice, that's all that matters.
Saying "I'm too inflexible for yoga" is like saying "I'm too dirty for a shower"!
Can I practice yoga if I'm pregnant?
For most people, yes. It's all about listening to the body and taking modifications of postures when needed. Yoga can be fabulously calming and restorative for both mum and baby! So I can make the class as accessible as possible for you, let me know if you are pregnant when you attend your first session, or mention it in the medical condition box when you book onto a class. But of course, if you're unsure, speak to your doctor or midwife.
